Five years ago Pokemon Go developers Niantic launched Ingress, their first augmented reality mobile game. This AR game turned real-world streets, neighborhoods and cities into a global game and was the initial designs and concepts that would become the crazy successful Pokemon Go.
Today Niantic announced its next step in the evolution of AR mobile entertainment with Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighborhoods and cities to discover & fight legendary beasts and team up with others to take down powerful enemies. Niantic has partnered with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and WB Games San Francisco’s development team to bring the AR world of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite to life.
The game will utilize everything Niantic learned through both the development and release of Ingress and Pokemon go while allowing the team to pioneer new technology and gameplay mechanics.
